Former French icon Mikael Silvestre turned down a lucrative offer from then Liverpool manager Gerard Houiller and joined Manchester United in 1999.

Coming off the back of a successful season at Inter Milan, the defender followed it up with 5 more glittering years on the British shores, having shone for The Red Devils and helping them with 5 Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy in 2008.

For all his brilliance, Silvestre may have made a name for himself at the Merseyside had he joined them instead, but wouldn’t enjoyed the kind of trophy-laden years he did at Manchester.
